Dienzo @ Hyaena Gallery

Dienzo had a Solo Exhibit at Hyaena Gallery this week called "Vampyrically Speaking". The work was stunning and almost every piece sold on the night of the reception.

Many of his pieces were based on famous underground models. This particular piece is based on Wednesday Mourning, who is often the subject of Chris Anthony's photography.

This piece, titled Anneke, was one of my favorites in the show. And surprisingly, it's still available!


Dienzo (in the middle) is also just an amazing person, and put up with all my drunken babble.

Ted Von Heiland's work amazes me to a point of speechlessness. I first came across his work in 2007 at Hanger 1018, a gallery we both showed at that year. He had a piece of work shown there that just blew me away. Not only is his work beautiful, but for me, it really crossed the boundaries of what people had already done with mixed media artwork.



Each piece seems so unique, but still maintains a cohesive style. Cohesiveness is something I struggle with very much in my own work, so it's amazing to see how Ted pulls this off so well, without his work getting stale or redundant.



And being the big anime nerd that I am, I immediately recognized the use of Gundam pieces in some pieces of the work. It's like he's creating his own world of fantastical cyborg creatures. Ted is amazingly inventive, and also just a very down-to-earth, good person that I feel everyone should get a chance to meet.

Bill Shafer loves Neckface

This one's quite amazing, if I do say so.


And on a somewhat unrelated side note, I love Porky Pig. Back when the Porky cartoons were in black and white, and a little racier, they used to scare the life out of me. The scariest of them being "Wholly Smoke" where Porky falls into some dream state where he encounters a world that resembles a young smoker's nightmare. Unfortunately whoever now owns the rights to that episode won't allow the video to be posted online.

Fangoria

Gollywood Forever

The Hyaena Gallery reception on the 21st was a blast. It was a memorial art show of Gidget Gein's work.
I got this sweet guitar pick. I chose the pink one, because pink is the most awesome of course! Actually, I think I chose it because I don't own anything pink.... I'm tempted to use it to learn guitar (which I have in the works) but it's probably not the kind of pick you should play with. Collectable only

Forgotten Saints

The art show at The Congregation of Forgotten Saints was amazing!


I based my piece on "Aberration ~ The Patron Saint of Heartache", a saint I made up. It's the biggest piece I've ever produced, and the last of giant work that I will tackle. I was happy with the end result, and others seemed to be happy with it too.
